Spiazzi in residence
... An accommodation
program in Venice city centre, really close to Biennale. Open to everywhere
artists who decide to spend their time and work in Venice, interacting
with social and artistic Venetian contest and producing a specific project
in a large multifunctional workshop with other artists.
Hospitality ends with an exhibition or a special event in Spiazzi gallery.
Artists are invited to experience without restrictions, encouraging
artistic research and sharing ideas. Spiazzi is particularly interested
in relationship between the artist and the city. Hosting periodically
foreigner artists, Spiazzi starts a natural and mutual path of enrichment
which comes from cultural and experience comparison.

Candidates propose a program of agreed activities with Spiazzi staff:
duration and type of accommodation, every time according to peculiar
needs.

Spiazzi supplies references for scholarship and grants in country of
origin.

program
Artists have free access to places assigned for their work. Participants
can also attend Spiazzi’s classes.
The length of accommodation can vary between one and six months. Artists
must provide for themselves about travelling and stay in Venice expenses.
Artists are encouraged to communicate about their work development and
to show it to artistic and social Venetian community at the end of period.
Events and exhibitions are provided to improve experience exchange as
much as possible.
Spazzi guarantees available exhibition room, workshops and advertising
(web, press and posters) for the event. On request, Spiazzi supplies
help in preparation, transport and security service. Artists are included
in a vast contact list.
Operas produced here remained artists’ property, whom have to
collect them at the end of period (self-providing for sending and transport).
Spiazzi will archive and publish on its web-site gallery all pictures
and videos about stages of production and final opera.
Spiazzi is not a public institution, so accommodations are financed
by artist’s personal contribution or by grants and scholarships.

Workshops and equipment let practice about artistic and technical aspects.
It’s common opinion that working in partnership increase experimentation
and comparison. Spiazzi is not an Academy and is free of hierarchy.
Every member is responsible for his own behaviour with other members,
guests, places and equipment used.
If participants need other materials non listed, may provide by themselves.

Cost
200 Euros per month .300 € will be asked to organize the final
exhibition at the end of the residence.

Spiazzi is an association born in 2003, sharing places, experiences
and sensibilities. It collects people different in age, art, communication
and handcraft interests. Spiazzi is a collective atelier which produces
exhibitions, cultural events, classes and stages.
